“Sponsor a Resident”
PROGRAM
Welcome to the team of sponsors of the “Sponsor a Resident” program , managed by the local delegation of United Doctors of Venezuela in France. The various international delegations of United Doctors of Venezuela created this initiative in view of the exceedingly precarious economic and labor situation faced by postgraduate medical students in Venezuela.
Due to the massive emigration of medical staff that has afflicted our country, a large part of the medical work in Venezuelan hospitals now falls on these students’ shoulders. The extremely vulnerable situation in which most of them find themselves (the salary of a resident is less than 5 euros) frequently forces them to abandon their studies, often just before graduating. This is why your contribution is essential.
PROGRAM FEATURES
The sponsees are selected amongst postgraduate students from different universities in the country. We currently support sponsees from the University of Zulia and the University of Carabobo.
The selection process, carried out by the MUV France Sponsorship Commission, is based on strict criteria, such as:
• Precarious economic situation
• Commendable academic performance
• Medical specialties of strategic importance within the current health crisis and pandemic context
Each sponsor gets assigned a sponsee in an arbitrary way.
Within the first 5 days of each month, the sponsors transfer the sum of 20€ to the MUV France bank account (click in "Donate Now" ); the following week, the money gets wired to Venezuela.
66% of this amount is tax deductible; you will be sent the corresponding tax receipt.
The strict monitoring is carried out on the circuit for sending and receiving donation transfers in order to ensure transparency. Sponsors who so wish are put in contact with their sponsees.
